One thing that exercise rooms have in common is size and the amount of abuse their floors need to sustain.
This is why, many people used to install nailed down regular hardwood floors in these areas.
They assumed that, by installing hardwood floors, they will be able to ensure these floors will last, gracefully, for a long time.
However, there is a problem with hardwood floors, which often turn them into a nightmare for these environments: stability or lack thereof.
Hardwood floors react poorly to environments that are not properly controled.
Is the room too dry or too humid, are there constant fluctuations in humidity levels? Expect your regular hardwood floor to shrink and expand with it, and ultimately start moving and squeack.
Also, the amount of pressure put on an activity floor, be it gym, dance floor, exercise room or what have you, makes these floors be in a constant state of vibration, which will translate into more and more movement as time goes by.

Three floors made out of either oak wood, maple or beech are designed to sustain constant pressure and absorb the energy released by atlethes feet during sporting events.
Made out of 4 layers of material, these floors are stable, solid and sandable up to three times.
Installed in areas like Riverfront Athletic Club in Denver, various locations of Federation of International Sports, Aerobic and Fitness Inc., the Gimnasio Alcala in Spain or TC Training Center in Germany, these floors have been used for long enough in this type of environment to give you peace of mind, if you decide to have one installed at your facility.
My floors were damaged by water when I was on vacation. I replaced them with Kahrs Oak Stone flooring provided by Chicago Flooring Innovations. Daniel was knowledgeable, responsive, and his team did a high quality job.
In a stressful situation, I was impressed that he always responded to emails or text messages almost instantly. I had a lot of questions about the process. Also, he was great about proactively communicating status and even texted pictures during the day.
The work itself was done professionally. Furniture was moved around carefully and drop cloths were used to protect both furniture and counters. The space was always cleaned at the end of every work day. The floors themselves look amazing. There are no quality issues.

Made out of white oak, these floors will have lots of grain, with moderate knots to it.
